Good questions

Frequently Asked

The things couples ask me most. Don't see yours? Send it over — I answer every message myself.

Booking & logistics

How far in advance should we book?

Peak-season Saturdays (May through October) tend to book 9–14 months out. Off-season and weekday dates are often available with a few months' notice. If your date is close, send a note anyway — I keep a short waitlist for last-minute cancellations.

How do we reserve our date?

A signed contract and a 25% retainer hold your date. The retainer comes off your total, and the remaining balance is due two weeks before the wedding. I offer interest-free payment plans at no extra cost — just ask.

Do you travel outside San Diego?

Absolutely. I'm based in San Diego but regularly shoot up and down California and beyond. Anything within 60 miles is included; past that, travel is quoted at cost and never marked up.

What happens if you're sick or have an emergency?

In eleven years it hasn't happened, but I carry a backup plan: a network of vetted SoCal photographers I trust completely, plus full insurance. You'd still receive a gallery edited in my style.

The day itself

Do you help with the timeline?

Yes — and it's one of the most valuable things I do. Once you book, we build a custom timeline together, planned around your venue's light so your portraits land in golden hour. I'll coordinate directly with your planner and other vendors.

We're awkward in front of a camera. Help?

You're in good company — almost everyone says this. I shoot in a relaxed, prompt-based way: I give you something easy to do with each other rather than a stiff pose to hold. Most couples forget the camera is there within ten minutes.

Do you photograph elopements and small weddings?

They're some of my favorite days. The Elopement collection is built for intimate ceremonies of any size — from just the two of you to a backyard with thirty of your people.

Will there be a second photographer?

The Coastal and Heirloom collections include a second shooter. For elopements it's usually just me, which keeps the day intimate — but you can add a second photographer to any collection.

After the wedding

When do we get our photos?

Full galleries are delivered within six weeks of your wedding — often sooner. You'll also get a sneak-peek set of 20–30 favorites within 48 hours so you have something to share right away.

How many images will we receive?

It depends on coverage hours, but expect 300+ for an elopement and 600–800+ for a full wedding day. Every delivered image is individually hand-edited — no filters, no batch presets.

Do we get the rights to our photos?

Every collection includes a full personal print release, so you can print, share, and store your images however you like, forever. The high-resolution files are yours to download from your gallery.

Can we order prints and albums?

Yes. Your online gallery has a built-in print shop with archival, pro-lab prints. Fine-art heirloom albums are available as an add-on or included with the Heirloom collection — I design every spread by hand.
